Fathers' Inquiry is published by a small group of fathers, working independently. It is not a company. The people running it are not named on this site; see Purpose & Structure for why. Using this site means accepting what is set out below.
1. What This Site Is, in One Paragraph
Fathers' Inquiry publishes edited testimony from fathers and written analysis of published data. It is not a court, it is not a tribunal, and nothing here is evidence in any proceeding. It makes no finding that any account is true. Everything published here is chosen, edited and published by Fathers' Inquiry, which is responsible for its own editorial decisions.
2. This Is Not Legal Advice
Nothing on this site is legal advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship.
Fathers' Inquiry cannot tell you whether it is safe for you to speak publicly about your own case. It does not know your circumstances, it has not seen your orders, and a wrong answer would be paid for by you. Take advice from a lawyer in your own jurisdiction.
3. How to Read an Account Published Here
Every recording is an account given to the Inquiry by one person about his own experience. It has not been tested the way a court would test it. Nobody has cross-examined it, and the people described in it have not answered it.
Where a recording is documented as corroborated, the note on that recording says what was checked. Where it is not, the same note says so. Read the note.
Nobody is named in anything published here. Where an account appears to describe a specific person or case, that is not the intention and it is something Fathers' Inquiry wants to know about – see the Publication & Correction Policy.
4. Using What Is Here
You may read, quote and link to anything on this site.
If you quote a recording, please:
- attribute it to Fathers' Inquiry and link to the page it came from;
- keep the quotation in context;
- do not attach a name to a witness, and do not publish anything you believe identifies a witness or anyone described in an account.
Please do not republish a recording in full elsewhere. If you want to use material more substantially than a quotation, ask.
Do not use anything here to identify, contact or pursue any individual. This site is organised so that it cannot be used that way, and using it that way is the outcome its entire design exists to prevent.
5. What You May Not Do
- Attempt to identify a witness, or anyone described in an account.
- Publish, or claim to have worked out, the identity of anyone appearing here.
- Copy the site systematically, scrape it at a rate that degrades it, or attempt to break into it.
- Submit anything false, or attempt to impersonate someone else.
- Use any contact route here to send abuse or threats.
6. Links to Other Sites
Where this site links elsewhere – to a source for a figure, or to a support organisation – those sites are not under Fathers' Inquiry's control and their content is theirs.
Links to crisis and support services are given because they may help. Fathers' Inquiry does not run them, cannot vouch for what happens when you contact them, and receives nothing for listing them.
7. Availability
This site is run by a small number of people. It may be unavailable at times, content may change, and recordings may be amended or withdrawn as described in the Publication & Correction Policy.
8. Responsibility
Fathers' Inquiry is responsible for its own editorial decisions: what it publishes, how it edits, and whether it follows its published process.
What it does not accept responsibility for:
- decisions you make based on what you read here, including decisions about your own case;
- what other people do with material published here, including copying it elsewhere;
- the content of any other site linked from here.

10. Changes
When these terms change, the date at the top changes and a note at the foot says what changed.
